New grad cover letter

Nursing Students ADN/BSN

Published

Hi I'm a new grad hoping to get a NICU job. I need some critiquing on my cover letter, please!

To Whom It May Concern,

I am writing to express my interest in a RN position in the NICU at (hospital). I have been referred by (preceptor), whom I worked with during my preceptorship. I have recently graduated with my Associates in Applied Science degree from (school's) nursing program, and I will begin (university's) RN-BSN program in August 2014. Your commitment of providing compassionate, excellent care makes (hospital) a facility where I would be proud to apply my skills.

Currently, I work as a LPN at (employer) working specifically with pediatric patients. This experience has exposed me to children with a wide range of health issues and demographics. My previous clinical experience allowed me to work in multiple settings including critical care and emergency. This, along with my preceptorship in the NICU at (hospital) has enabled me to develop strong skills, including excellent critical thinking and communication skills, which have prepared me for the challenges of nursing.

In addition to my nursing skills, I have a strong work ethic, passion for learning and dedication to provide exceptional service to each of my patients. I recognize the essential need to work collaboratively with all health care providers to provide the most comprehensive care to our patients. I strive to serve each of my patients with compassion, respect and excellence. I believe my skills and dedication would be a great asset in helping carry out (hospital's) vision of improving health of the community in a holistic manner. I look forward to having a personal interview to discuss how my experience and passion can contribute to your facility. I can be reached by phone or email. I appreciate your time and look forward to speaking with you.

Respectfully,

name
