Evening RN AAS program in NYC

HI All,

I am looking for an evening AAS RN program in NYC. As my searches have shown there aren't that many options (BMCC, Bronx and about 2 more colleges).

I cannot afford to leave my job and need to find evening/weekend program that is more or less affordable (up to 10000 a year).

Any one have suggestions?

P.S I already have a BS degree in Business and Management and planing to change the field.

I'm in the evening/weekend program at BMCC. I work Monday to Friday 8am to 4:30pm and attend classes Tuesdays and Thursdays 5:45 to 9:15 pm. Clinical is either Saturday or Sunday 8am to 4pm.

I recommend Helene Fuld College of Nursing.

i know some coworkers who went there for the lpn to rn program and finished in a yr.

they also seem to have a bridge Bsn program now,but its not accredited yet.

Thank you, dmcne2883! I don't know when you have entered the program... But could you please describe the over all process of getting in ( I know that to get to the evening program you have to have twice as much pre-requirements comparing to day program)...

Also how do you like the program? Is it taught well and is clinical done in hospitals or private sector clinics?

You have to take the prerequisites listed. You can apply in the semester you're taking your last prerequisite. You have to present a letter from your job stating the hours you work to get into the evening/weekend program. It's only for people who work. You have to take the HESI exam which consist of math, reading comprehension, anatomy and physiology, and critical thinking, which is a mini NCLEX exam. I'm in 1st semester, fundamentals. The clinical is @ Woodhull Hospital and Bellevue Hospital. There is also a nursing home rotarion. I don't know what hospital the other semesters and sections go to. Regardless what semester or section, it is a lot of reading. The main text book is 50 chapters and 1397 pages. This is just fundamentals. I don't care how well intentioned the professor, they won't be able to teach you everything you need to know in 6 hours/week. You will have to do the reading. I think that applies no matter what school you attend.
