I'm highly considering transferring to a regionally accredited online nursing program. Any past experiences/considerations???

Based on your other posts, I assume you are referring to pre-licensure programs. There is no such animal. Think about this for a second.. would you want a 'never have touched a patient' newbie starting an IV on your child??? Any program is going to require clinical practicum - the minimum standards are established by accreditation standards, but schools can customize with additional requirements. Don't fall for a marketing ploy by an unstructured programs if it claims that students can do their clinicals wherever they want ... this requires students to arrange their own clinicals. What they don't tell you is that it's highly unlikely that you will be able to do this because hospitals will not agree to serve as training sites for "one of" programs. There is too much liability & they are unwilling to provide a clinical instructor that the school should be paying for.

There is another important consideration. Employers are very well aware of the quality of nursing programs - based upon their experience with graduate nurses. You may want to investigate - to determine whether where graduates are being hired - before committing to a specific program.

Also suggest you modify your user name - to indicate that you are hoping to become an rn, and have not earned a license yet.

Very true, I'll be sure to do further research. Thanks for your input!
