What to expect???

Hi all. I've been lurking for a while now & finally decided to officially join AN. I am a new grad RN (May 2011) who has been working LTC as an LPN for about 1 year until I passed boards in Sept. I kept the same position once I passed (job market is tight here just like everywhere else). The job itself didn't change, just the title & pay rate.

So, anyway....the reason for my post. I have a 2nd interview scheduled tomorrow at an inpatient unit. This interview will be with the psychiatrists that I will be working with. I wonder if any of you experienced MH nurses could give me an idea of what to expect? I'm assuming this will be different than the usual "why do you want to work here, what can you bring to our facility" type questions, as that is what the initial interview with the nurse manager was like.

I did my clinicals on this unit, so I have some idea of what to expect with the job itself. I just have NO idea what to expect from the interview. It's been nearly a year since I was there so I've been reviewing my psych drugs, diagnoses, etc. Any other suggestions on what I can do to prepare for this interview & what to expect? I've been applying to this unit since well before graduation, so I really don't want to blow this interview.

    in advance

You never know what a doctor will ask.

But, be prepared at least to stress team spirit, collaboration, patient and staff safety.

Thank you for your response, MrChicagoRN.

Interview was this morning & I think it went well. I was surprised because there were more clinical type questions asked in my initial interview. Apparently, all that brushing up was for my own peace of mind.

Should know something early next week. Keeping my fingers crossed.
