What is your hospital doing for Christmas?

I work on a 31 bed Child & Adolescent Acute ward. With Christmas just days away I asked what was planned for the kids. To my surprise I was told "Nothing" but was given the ok if I wanted to do something to switch things up a bit. I'm hoping that the census will be down but I've got to come up with something!

I've already ordered the movie "Santa Buddies" (think cute golden retriever puppies saving Christmas), have my staff baking treats. I have to stay away from the religious aspect of the holiday for all sorts of reasons.

I thought about doing some projects involving the approaches to Christmas of different cultures. Educate while entertaining.

Any other ideas/experiences?

(Of course there will be eggnog with special sauce in the kitchenette for staff :clown:)

One place I work does nice things for the patients and the other one doesn't do squat so the staff do the holiday. Hit your local dollar tree for lots of inexpensive crafts and goodies. Google free holiday games like trivia and bingo which you can do for small prizes. The kids are easy the teens not quite so much. :D Good luck and thank you for thinking of your kids as so many won't have any holiday at all if you don't make one. Boo hiss to the facilities that allow staff to take the full brunt of holidays on their pocketbooks.

Every unit gets some money to spend on stuff for the patients. They'll also have visiting on Christmas Day and a special dinner.
