Travel psych or transition to new facility

Please wait before moving this post to Travel Nursing forum, there are not many folks who respond to travel psych nursing there.

I've worked a year med-surg with a couple months of acute hospital psych nursing. The orientation in med-surg seems much more intense due to all of the policies of tasks involved and learning where everything is on the floor.

From the little I've experienced on the psych unit there appeared to be less of an orientation with the transition seeming less difficult.

I'm not saying that psych nursing is easier but from what I've experienced it would seem easier to travel as a psych nurse in regards to learning a new facility. Also, the psych nurses I've met seem to be much nicer and more inviting than med-surg nurses making travel for me more desirable.

Any comments on travel psych nursing or adjustments to a new facility on a psych unit would be greatly appreciated.
