Can anyone give me any information on percoset withdrawal? symptoms, how to titrate down, help for symptoms, how long withdrawal takes etc. Any experience with this would be helpful thanks1

We use clonodine & occasionally if really bad wd sx. we will give small amount of benzos. No way to avoid all the symptoms, she will just have to go through it with the comfort of knowing she won't have to experience it again any time soon. Perhaps she is not an addict but perhaps her personality leans her toward this behavior, who knows, only she does for sure. Keep in mind that not all addicts look like what we typically percieve them to ie; street level users. I would really hesitate to prescribe any other addictive medication for this withdrawl unless absolutely necessary. I am sure you will use good judgement whatever route is taken, after all it is easy to sit behind a screen & give out advise but we are not present to first hand assess the situation or the patient. Best of luck with the situation.

Ok, you guys... since we are talking about percocet, I have some questions, too......I have been on them for post op pain from bil carpal tunnel surgery. I find I need 2 a day, no more. Is this enough to give me withdrawal symptoms when I no longer need them? I have been taking them for about 6 months. I will admit, before I take them , I do get a lil aggitated, but I cant tell if its because I am in pain, or am I "withdrawing" allready? (as in when I wait til I am in alot of pain before I take them).and second....I want to go back to work soon..... but I dont really want to divulge to them I am on the percocet, if a drug test is done. I just dont want the stigma, I guess... my question is, how long do I have to be off of them for them to NOT show up in a drug test??? Thank in advance guys, I have been struggling with these 2 things, but didnt know where to post it!!!

2 a day? You might have a few mild symptoms, but nothing I'd call withdrawal. Maybe a little runny nose, some yawning, and general aches. You might be a little irritable, but I can't imagine a serious symptoms/signs.

Keep in mind some people have taken more and reported no "withdrawal" symptoms.

As far as drug screens go, it'll be cleared by 48 hours, 72 for sure.

TCAS11 what about 8 a day down to four a day-should there be bad withdrawal?

Like CharlieRN, Percocet withdrawal is treated as opiate withdrawal. When I worked Detox, we used Ultram with a titered schedule...depending on the severity of withdrawal picture. It was very effective even for the hardest hitting IV heroin addicts. However, detox again should be done in detox under a doc's management. CharlieRN and I both agree on this.

krisssy, I also agree with the suggestion of Bentyl (for the cramps) and Vistaril (for anxiety). Maybe, even Desyrel for an HS sleeper. I don't agree with any Benzodiazepine use, though. Clonodine/Catapress really needs to be monitored closely as was previously mentioned and prescribed by a person's weight in order to be effective if used for the purpose of detox. Wishing you well.

Has anyone heard of giving Wellbutrin for Percoset withdrawal? I have done a search and see that it is used. But does anyone understand why it is used and how it can help? Thanks Krisssy
