Honest advise needed

I need some honest advise. I've been a nurse for over a yr now. First job was in psych for about 3 months and now I'm in med surg which I cannot stand. Just interview today and was offered a position on a children/adolescent unit.

I cannot ever picture myself in med surg, ER, neuro, just to name a few. I've loved psych before I became an RN.

Does anyone feel I should try to stick It out in med surg? I truly believe my heart is psych.

Feedback welcomed thank you!!!

Specializes in Psyche RN.

Life is short.....Do what you were born to do....Be a psyche Nurse...let the adrenaline junkies do ER, let the CCICU nurses be OCD, just go with your gut and it will never let you down.........

All the Best

Thank you! I just keep trying to plan for the future as well. But I honestly cannot imagine myself doing any type of floor nursing it isn't for me. I feel like if I don't take this job I will keep thinking what if.. Plus med surg, calling doctors all night isn't for me!

Yup, come on back to the dark side. I will have a year of experience next week. I have worked all that time in psych. First in Tue community then inpt.I will tell you that while child and adolescent is great, I feel like that's the area that you are most likely to get hit/kicked/spat on/bit etc. Kids have nooooo impulse control.
