What do the tasks involve while working a community mental health center? I have been looking all around the internet. Thanks for the replies!

In a community mental health center, entry level nursing positions can involve administering and monitoring the effects of depot neuroleptics for chronically mentally ill pts (as well as doing your best to try to get them to remain compliant which is one of the biggest challenges), evaluating the needs of and devising initial care plans for new pts, LOTS and LOTS of pt (and family) education, and numerous other things.

The kind of therapy nurses can provide would depend on education level, as well as regulations by your state licensing board.

A lot of the psychiatrists here have nurses who work at their side.... they rotate every other time seeing the patients for med. management. I wonder how much they make........... :cool:
