What to expect the first quarter of Nursing School?!

Hello,

I just got accepted into the nursing program for Fall 2015 ! I am really excited, as this has been a very long road in the making . However, I am really nervous, and don't know what to expect from the very first quarter;. I've heard about clinicals and labs. I just wanted to get some feedback and experiences from any fellow nursing students. Thank you !

It was certainly an adjustment, but I feel like a lot of students exaggerated how difficult the program actually was. I did not spend every waking moment studying and still had above a 3.5 GPA. I had plenty of free time for my TV shows, but then again, I am single with no children, so that left me without a lot of obligations.

Just develop good habits now. Manage your time well, and you will be just fine.

from what I read online and what people have told is that the first semester you get hit by a lot of info which would make it difficult to comprehend... I don't know! your post brings a relief to my constant worry :) How was your GPA while taking pre-reqs btw?

Bah, it's doable. People do it time and time again and still manage to maintain their sanity until the end of the program (for the most part).

I actually have a previous Bachelor's, so my prereqs were included in my curriculum. At the time, I had no idea that I would be going into nursing, so I didn't focus too much on those classes. But I still managed to get all A's and B's. And I worked 15-25 hrs/week to pay for rent for my apartment and food.

Biggest challenge will be learning to take exams. Prepare for nothing like you've ever experienced as far as testing goes... You'll need to hone your critical thinking skills to survive the rest of med-surg content and school! Good luck!!

Worked at a restaurant. Those tips were sufficient for my spending habits.
