Any tips in applying to nursing program at UNR? I have 4.0 GPA so far; however, I heard that it doesn't matter if you have good grades. You can still be denied even though you have a 4.0. Any input will be very much appreciated.

A few years ago they abandoned GPA for entrance into their program and started a fraudulent and dishonest "interview." They will ask you questions that have nothing to do with you or your desire to be a nurse or, most importantly, how you will perform in their program then stare at you while ponder an answer to a ridiculously open ended and meaningless question. My favorite; Name three people, someone with whom you've had a conflict, someone you consider a friend, and someone who loves you and tell how they would describe you. What the hell is that? Don't forget, they'll stare at you while you sit there wondering how they could ask such a stupid question.

Your answers don't mean anything. They've already pre-determined whose in and whose rejected. As I stated, the interview is a fraud. At least now they're limiting the number they interview so they aren't conning as many students into thinking they have a decent chance.

Make no mistake about it. Any program that requires an interview and takes lower GPA's before those who made the sacrifices to finish first is a fraud, top to bottom. They're turnover rate of teaching professors is very high too and that's an indicator of serious systemic corruption. Did you graduate from a Nevada high school? You're chances just got worse if you didn't.

You worked hard and made big sacrifices to earn your GPA. Find a nursing school that respects that.

No, I didn't graduate my high school in Nevada. How about 2nd degree is that gonna be an advantage?

They used to give credence to second degree seeking students but I've heard they've curtailed that too. Are you a current UNR student from out of state? Have you established Nevada residency? You'd have to contact an adviser within the Orvis School of Nursing and ask them. Although, I'd be highly suspicious of their answers due to their gross lack of honesty and integrity in their selection process.

Yes, I'm a current pre-nursing student at UNR and living in Reno, NV for 15 years.

I agree, they might not give me direct answers but to wait if I get an acceptance or denial letter. I believe application for Spring 2016 cohort will open this summer. It's nerve-wracking to think my 4.0 will not be of use to me.

Hi, were you accepted to the program?

I just applied and I'm worried that my GPA isn't high enough :(
