Tips for Getting & Staying Organized

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

I am trying to enjoy and relax as much as possible this summer before school starts this August. I will be returning and taking my prereqs for nursing and I have never been to college before. So can anyone share some tips that helped with staying organized....especially with a husband and 4 kids? My children's ages are 10, 7, 4 and 21 months and I find myself starting to stress, but I am trying not to! The main thing that I do have going for me is not having to work, however, my husband does have two full time jobs and I really cannot count on him during the week.

Yes, I use this planner that is attached. I have already filled it in for every day of the week. Include permanent items like lecture & clinical. Also include: study times (be specific on what ur going to do), exercise, sleep, meals, etc. Of course put in time w/ kids & things that u have to do w/ them, I'm sorry I'm not trying to sound ignorent I just don't have kids so I can't really give u advice on that part of your planning. I just wanted to attach this planner as it is a good way to visually see what amount of time u have for all the things u have to do. Space your items out, don't try to do it all in 1 day because guess what...You Can't, nobody can.

precook chicken, burger so you can pull it out and have it ready. Freeze up meals now-I fill up the whole grill with chicken breasts, my husband thought I had ost my mind til he saw how great it was to whip out precooked chicken on my clinical nights! I try to do same "nights" by the week like every Monday is Italian, Tuesday soup &salad/sandwich, ect..I try to do Sam's club costo trip for basics....

Lay out kids clothes by the week- I got those day of the week dividers- both of my boys wear uniforms so each have 5 sets-worth the $ not to have to do laundry the night before a test! Sunday afternoon we get everyone organized --laundry, organize their week (projects, school activities), be sure lunch stuff is there,ect-lunches night before help then do something fun--when I statrted sched me time+family time my grades went up!

I keep a container in my trunk w all books I ref alot, extra pens, paper, hole puncher, stapler, ect. I also keep my clinical binder, extra scrub top,and clinical bag (zip top costmetic bag) with stethescope, pen light, click pens,bp cuff, tiny notebook, scissors,ect.- I empty my pockets after clinical into it EVERY TIME and I always know it is in my car. I keep my badge in love compartment. I have water bottles in there too. I could live in my trunk-lol!!! hope this helps-- you will do great!

OMG! celclt reminded me that on long days, yes a crock pot is a lifesaver! There is a website with at least 50 different recipes for slow cookers. I can't eat pot roast everyday and this is nothing like that. It's http://www.50plusfriends.com/cookbook/crockpot/index-5b.html :smokin:
