Thinking about becoming an RN

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Hi there,

I'm new to this forum. I'm thinking about becoming an RN.

I'm just curious. Are there any RNs out there, that can tell me what to expect. I'm very passionate about this.

Thanks.

Take a look at a few schools, and avoid the tech schools that include prereqs in the programs, as they are often not accredited and will not transfer should you choose to further your education. Not to mention the astronomical cost.

You'll want to do your general ed and prereqs for any schools you're considering, and the more schools you can apply to, the better your chances of getting in somewhere. I applied to 10 myself.

The NCLEX isn't terrible. A good program prepares you, and you'll learn the strategies you need (as NCLEX-style questions, which you'll encounter in nursing school, are different than anything you'll see before nursing school).

Plenty of us start later, which happens. I had classmates who were in their 40s, even one in her 50s. I'm 34 and I just graduated.

Thanks for your responses.
