Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Hello, I'm Louise. Do you have to be a nurse to get a bachelors degree in healthcare management?

No, you don't.

I have one semester left of my bachelors in Healthcare Administration, and there are actually only a few nurses in my program that I've run across. In the last 4 semesters I've been doing it, there have only been maybe 5 of us that are nurses.

The school should have a catalog that includes information about all the degrees that they offer. If not, contact the school directly to get the information you need. FYI, I have never encountered anyone who landed a healthcare management job based upon that particular degree - it's very misleading. Healthcare is a very complex industry - management jobs require previous relevant experience. Nursing management jobs require a nursing degree (usually an MSN) as well as clinical experience/competency.

Best of luck on your educational journey.
