Poor grades from old Uni, path to Nursing school?

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

I have bad grades from uni.. 50s-60s average. it was in engineering. I was in school from 2006-2008.. I was wondering how would it be possible for me to get into a nursing school from this point. I live in Toronto, Canada.

I was thinking of taking bio and chem highschool credits as I've forgotten the material, and then taking a year of pre-nursing at a community college.

Anyone have experience or knowledge that would help me?

The reason my marks were low was that I was going through mental illness.. I wasn't able to get all my marks off my uni transcript because I couldn't prove that it went back to first year so my average was in the 50s or 60s.

My school goes by a point system, meaning they don't look at any other grades than those required by the program (2 English, a math, micro A&p I and II, etc. and entrance exam/letters of recommendation). If you can find a school like that and go to a community college to retake any of those courses you did poorly in, some colleges will just accept the higher grade. Thank goodness. I started college when I was 17 and not ready but I've been able to buckle down and take the classes over and have a very good shot at getting in! This all depends on of you are going ADN or BSN though...
