Opinions about Pre/Co Req grades?

So I'm analyzing my other grades(not sciences), and I'm trying to figure out what NEEDS to be retaken.

My school grades by two different GPA areas. One of them is your sciences with your chemistry class, then the other one is your co and pre requisites. Then it's a point system, you're science gpa is worth a total of 8 points, and your co/pre req gpa(I think sciences would be included in this one) is worth 4 points. In your science, 3.00-3.49 is worth 6 points, and 3.5-4.0 is 8 points. In the other one 3.0-3.49 is worth 3 points, and 3.5-4.0 is worth 4.

So here's where I'm at:

English 1 - B

English 2 - B-

Math 120 - B

Psychology 1 - A

Political Science - C+

Sociology 1 - B

So that would put my pre/co requisites at a 3.0 gpa, without the science classes. I'm trying to figure out what I should actually retake. I'm thinking about retaking Political Science, and Sociology to get A's in both classes. Which would then put my GPA at a 3.45. I also wonder if there's a way to get that B- in Eng 2 to a solid B - that alone would give me a 3.5 GPA total.

So I'm just wondering what everyone else thinks. I'll be taking AP 1 and AP 2 with lab in the Fall, and maybe one other class. Microbiology will either be in Spring or Wintermester(between fall and spring), then CNA in the Spring, and maybe another class.

From past experience with classes, is it possible to take AP 1 & 2 (Both accelerated 8 week semesters), with CNA?

I'm just trying to figure it out..lol

Can you repeat any of those? (At my school they don't allow repeats for anything above a D.) My nursing program doles out application points in a very similar fashion but deducts something like 2 points for any repeated prereqs .... idk, it looks like your grades are just fine but if there's really no penalty for repeats it couldn't hurt I guess?

There is no penalty for repeats. However, you're allowed to repeat four classes in your entire college experience, and can only repeat sciences 2 times. I was just thinking of repeating Political Science, just to get at least a B.

You have to remember although there is a point system for your grades, truly you will be pre-screened and the nursing professors will look over your grades, but your science grades in more detail. Remember nursing school will have papers to write, but what the nursing program wants is a strong background and understanding in the sciences (A&P, Micro, Chemistry, Biology and Patho). So, good grades (A/B+) in Micro and A&P will look way better than a B- in English 102 or a C+ in Political Science. I also recommend that you do not take A&P accelerated classes with CNA due to the amount of time to take studying for A&P and the clinical time for CNA. If you are truly motivated and willing to work even harder, then go for it but know your limits! Best of luck to you and your future!

I think you're right. Get good grades in AP. Then I can take Nursing Assistant in the spring.

The only reason I was thinking retaking classes is the darn points. It's out of 19 total points, if I do well on sciences, keep my other ones, and do REALLY good on the teas v - ill get 18 points. If I do OK on the teas v then ill be at 17. Only about 3 people in the last acceptance had a 17, out of 35 students.

I'm sure you can understand my paranoia! Lol
