New Mid-Life Career Changer

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Anyone here trying to get an associates degree while working full time in another field? I have to take a lot of math before I can even start pre-reqs.:uhoh21:

I work full-time as well. Once I finish school I will have an ADN and hope to work for a year and then start a BSN program. I'm a mid-life career changer as well. I have started to apply for jobs in a hospital (the one where I hope to work after I finish school) but haven't gotten a chance at an interview yet :o. I'm hoping to start NS in Fall of 08, when will you start?

You can do it. I am 31, out of college for over 10 years, and was working full time in product development. Decided it was not for me. I have been taking 1 pre-req class per semester (due to work travel, work time, etc) and finally finished and got into a Sept. start for 2007. I am SOO happy! If you want it, its yours - it may be a long road, but who cares? In the end you will be living your dream.

Hi, I am working on my ASN - or at least I have turned in my application for the nursing program at my cc. I'm 42 years old (soon to be 43 :balloons:) finished all my pre-reqs while working full time and a single mom of a now 18 year old.

I started going back to school after over 20 years of not being in school by taking a single easy class. Then jumped in with both feet working full time and carrying at least 12 units for the past 2 years.

During that time, I got my CNA, but have not pursued any jobs because they don't pay enough, though I know that the experiece would be very helpful.

I don't want to work while in nursing school - I HAVE TO. No one else around to pay my bills, and 18 year olds don't make enough to support themselves let alone their crazy mothers. :lol2:

I know it will be hard, scary, tough, frustrating and at times impossible, but I am overly motivated to get out of my current desk job - so, off to school I go.

I know it has to be possible to do all of this, I can't be the only one in this situation. So - good luck to all, I have faith that this will all work out!
