I took the Kaplan yesterday and I would like to help everyone by giving out the topics I remembered. The test was difficult for me and I made a 65% on science even with As in both A&P 1&2.

Topics:

what would raise metabolism? Fever, starvation, diet/exercise, or sleep?

how are neurons different from other cells in the body?

how does the bronchis get air? Very specifics

what system controls metabolism? I think it was metabolism of acid base but i don't remember much

3 fluid compartments of the body, specifics

function of circulatory system

What part of the lungs are for gas exchange? Alveoli

what would the patients heart rate AND breathing rate look like if it was controlled by parasympathetic NS

Brain lobes, particularly Frontal lobe

blood flow through the heart

high blood pressure on circulatory system

which cells provide immunity

what happens during asthma, as of body reactions? Specifics

I took the test again a few days ago and I made an 84 overall. I would like to make some adjustments to the topics, but the test was identical the second time around.

**what would raise metabolism? starvation, exersize, sleep, or stress?

**know about the mechanisms of breathing air, especially the pressure in the lungs during inhalation and exhalation.

**organ system controlling metabolism, and how PH is controlled.

**effects of CHRONIC high blood pressure

**what area of the digestive tract is responsible for the absorption of nutrients?

**inhibitory feedback and negative feedback of hormones.

**senses/factors that INCREASE with old age

Other than topics I've mentioned, the rest of the previous topics will be on there

Do you have tips to study for the math, reading, and writing portions?

math- Just know basic adding, subtracting, multiplying, dividing with whole numbers and fractions. know hoe ti turn a fraction to a decimal and the reverse. Also know how to set up proportions and simple dosage calculations.

Reading- same as ACT but maybe easier. Review through an ACT book.

Writing- I hated this one, but this section asks you about grammar rules and punctuation. Ex: What sentence does not fit with the rest of the paragraph? what word is incorrect or can be omitted? Where should you insert this sentence?

Hi any helpful hints on any quizlet science/math/reading files that might be helpful or other links?

I am taking the Kaplan entrance exam in 2wks and I am anxious about the writing and math part of the test. I heard  it has type A and B. Are they different or the same test. Any helpful material to study will be helpful. Thanks

Please ,did anyone at the University of Texas at Arlington for the BSN online program. I want to apply and I just need to ask some questions about the program.

Thank you
