I'm an idiot. How difficult is it to get into Hunter's nursing programs?

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

I was planning on registering for the pax exam in december which would allow me a few months to study for it, but when I went to do it yesterday I was already too late and they were full. I had to settle for one ten days from now. I am currently spiraling down a wormhole of pessimism. Are there any Hunter students out there in the nursing program currently? What were your grades when you got accepted? A friend told me they only accept 100, is that true? My current GPA is 3.8, but will that be enough if my exam scores are average?

Specializes in GENERAL.

OP: The best kept secret in some circles is the CUNY schools where you live. Many instructors at these schools have faculty who are adunct instructors moonlighting there from many of the areas most prestigious schools such as Columbia University, NYU and Cooper Union, to name a few, so you wind up withn an Ivy League education at a fraction of the cost.

This coupled with the plethora of available clinical experiences throughout the city make CUNY nursing a competitve experience as you know.

When you claim to be an idiot, I can only say that in my book this is without a doubt the sine qua non of having a successful academic and working experience in nursing. You don't know what you don't know. As far as your cum is concerned, what's wrong there? So it's a numbers game. Your only hope is that admissions are done on a somewhat level playing field.

I must say that the content and structure of your plaintive requests and rumination belie your claim to being an idiot.

So be patient and explore all credible options. Getting into the many good public nursing schools in and around the city has always been a pain in the ass. So just don't fixate on one or the other.

And I must say I appreciate your mock self deprecating thread title. It's very N.Y. for those that know.
