I Cheated, Do I still have a chance of redemption

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Good evening,

I cheated on an exam in a non-nursing prerequisite course at my University, and I am feeling incredibly sorry that I had done so. I am not sorry that I was caught, but I feel really bad for not believing in myself at the time and had involved someone who was innocent. Rather than taking the exam on my own as the others since now, at a moment of weakness, I looked at another student's exam and copied their answer. Because I had done so, we were both called into questioning. Of course, I confessed to cheating and received a 0 for the test and a huge "academic dishonesty" engraved onto my transcript.

I am a year from applying for nursing programs and I was wondering if I still have a chance at redemption and if I will be given a second chance to prove that this one mistake does not make my character.

Please, all honesty is appreciated.

Can't say what will happen at your school, but assume that when given the task of choosing between yourself and someone without the black mark, the admissions committee will choose the student without the black mark. There are consequences for just about everything in life.

Thank you for your honesty. I was wondering, is there a possibility of me being admitted into any nursing program? How can I show the admission committee that I am more than the black mark? I understand the severity of the situation, and I am simply seeking clarification of where I stand.

Go to the nursing department office and ask for an appointment to speak to the Director. State your case and ask for an opportunity to be considered without being automatically rejected. The worst that could happen is that s/he does not act in your favor. At best, you may get consideration by being bold enough to ask for what you want. If you don't get a good response from one program, seek out others and do the same thing. Good luck.

Thank you so much for your advice. I will definitely do so. You have helped me in ways I cannot even express.
