Homework help??

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Hi, I am having trouble....

Each week in psyc we answer 2 critical thinking questions....this week, one question is to list acute, chronic and withdrawal effects from alcohol, cocaine, heroine, marijuana ect.....I'm pretty sure what I have gathered from my book is pretty rhetorical....I'm trying to slim down my answer a bit...and since this is a psyc class and not nursing I'm not for sure if the following are pretty much the same side effects or different....any help would be great.....

PS

I'm not asking for the answer I have it...I'm asking if the answer is rhetorical

Are the following 3 the same or different?

poor coordination

poor motor control

slowed reaction time

Could I not combine these as well?

impaired attention and impaired concentration

Thanks for your help!

Are the following 3 the same or different?

poor coordination

poor motor control

slowed reaction time

impaired attentio

impaired concentration

None of these five are the same as any of the others, although you can probably find some more general terms that would encompass more than one.

Motor control is being able to tell a muscle what to do and having the muscle do exactly that.

Coordination is being able to tell many muscles what to do at the same time or to accurately tell a muscle or mucles a series of movements.

For example, I rub my head with great accuracy and I can pat my stomach with great accuracy but I have trouble rubbing my head and patting my stomach at the same time.

Slowed reaction time is the lag between deciding to move and the movement - which may or may not be less coordinated or less controlled or even slower once it starts than is typical.

Attention is about which things one focuses on and concentration is about how intently one can focus on the thing that has your attention.

Those are my own understanding of these and of the top of my head, so it might be wise to not count on their accuracy.

Thanks so much, that is exactly what I needed...I wasn't sure....I think for someone who hasn't studies those things in depth they can be confused for very similiar.
