Does this schedule seem doable?

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Hi,

A few years ago I was on the premed track. Due to personal reasons, I had to take some time off of school. During that time, I have been thinking of switching to nursing when I go back to school in the Spring. Does this schedule seem doable? For background reference, I have completed both semesters of general chemistry and organic chemistry (B+ average overall in them) and quite a few upper level Biology courses (A- average)

Spring 2015:

A&P 1 (4)

Micro (4)

Government 1 (3)

Intro to Sociology (3)

Summer 2015:

A&P 2 (4)

Government 2 (3)

Fall 2015:

Nutrition (3)

Developmental Psychology (3)

Intro Philosophy (3)

Creative Arts (3)

I have completed all the other prereqs consisting of 15 college courses and 12 AP credit. My plan would be to apply for Spring or Summer 2016 admissions. Please advice me on if the schedule seems doable and/or suggest any changes you would recommend. Thanks in advance!

Also, is the HESI-A2 A&P portion of the exam possible to do well on without taking the courses? With my bio background and studying for it prior to starting school again in January? Thanks again.

Seems fine to me. What's important is if YOU feel you can handle it.

I would do my sciences in different semester, or at least that's what I am thinking of doing. Depends on your study habits. Personally I would switch nutrition and microbiology but really that's just me.

Check to make sure what the prereqs for the classes at your school are. At mine you either have to have taken physiology or be concurrently enrolled. From the advice I have seen on other threads you want to at least have A&P 1 before taking micro and having A&P 2 before hand will help, although if strong in science A&P 2 with micro can work. Otherwise it looks balanced. Make sure to get together with an advisor to make sure everything looks good and that you are following the sequence that the schools program requires or suggests.

Thanks everyone. I will definitely speak with an adviser before I finalize my plans.
