Does anyone know how long it takes to hear from Adelphi Univ after they post that your application is complete and under review?

Also, any information about how fast you can take the nursing courses if finished with all prereqs?

Thanks!!

Hi,

I am currently attending Adelphi. Acceptance is on a rolling basis, so you should hear from them quickly. It took me a total of 1 month from submission to acceptance letter. I received an acceptance from another school and i called them and fax the letter to them and I received a letter within a week. It is very fast. If you have already completed all of your pre-reqs, you will be able to take 4 classes during your 1st semester. 2 of which are Wellness and Communication in Nursing. The other two are Health Assessment w/lab and Fundamentals of Nursing W/Lab. Good luck.

Thanks so much for the info. I took Chem 20 years ago...do you think they will make me retake it? I am transferring from Va and my school didn't require it but I've retaken all the other sciences and have all other prereqs done.

So, how fast can you finish the degree? Does it still take 3 yrs?

I believe that you will have to take Chem again because most schools do not allow any science classes over 5 yrs, some 10yrs max. You need 2 chem. General and Organic. If all pre-reqs and Gen/Ed are completed, it can be done in 2 years since there are some nursing classes in the summer months

Thanks again!!

I am 43yrs old and was wondering if there are many older students? I am at George Mason Univ now and everyone is 19ish.

I am at the Manhattan Center. I can tell you that we have quite a few older students. I am 37 and most of the class is in there 30 and 40's. I am not sure if it's the same demographic for the Garden City Campus. Don't worry, you will be fine.

Thanks for all your help.

I will be in Garden City, my husband is being transferred to Brooklyn for his job so we figured somewhere on LI would be the best place to live.

Have you done any clinicals yet? Do you get to chose around your schedule or do they make the decisions for you? I'm just wondering if I will need afterschool care for my kids.

Once the clinical schedules are posted online, you get to pick your schedule (if you register early), but if you wait, then you'll end up with leftovers. I believe the most clinicas are schedules either 8am -3/4pm or 3/4pm to 11pm. Most are on Tues and Thurs, but they also have saturdays, you wont start clinicals at least until your second semester (if you're full time) otherwise, it would be 3rd semester.

Thanks again.

I will be glad to see that letter in the mail, even if it is a bad one. I hate the waiting.
