Accelerated Nursing Program

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Hello Everyone!

I am thinking about pursuing a career in Nursing. I am an undergrad and I am currently working on my Bachelors degree in Health Science. I am just wondering if anyone has completed the Acelerated Nursing program and any thoughts on it. I know the program is not going to be easy, but I'm wondering how difficult the program was for you? I read that the program consist more of memorizing a TON of material rather trying to comprehend material...is this true? Any feed back would help!!

It really depends on the program. I'd advise you to talk to schools of interest, and ask to talk to current students near graduation, or those who graduated in the last couple years. There's a lot of variance in ABSN programs. I could advise you on mine, but that's not one you're considering, and not the most current information.

ABSN programs are fast paced and a lot of information is thrown at you in a short period. Nursing school classes are not "memorize for the test and forget". The information in each class is dependent on the knowledge you gained from previous semesters and you are expected to comprehend the material. The benefit of ABSN programs is that the time period that you learned the information in the first semester and applied the information in the final semester is far shorter in the ABSN program than a traditional BSN program.
