UIC Fall 2014 Applicants

I might as well open a topic for this group, too, since I just opened one for my UAB application.

Is anyone applying to University of Illinois-Chicago's NP programs? I went ahead and already completed my application now, because I was getting my UAB app together and figured I'd kill two birds with two stones. I'm guessing applying this early isn't going to get my decision to me any sooner, but I can always hope!

I applied for the CNM/WHNP specialty track, and last week received the email about having to either change to MSN-Generalist or else the DNP for my chosen specialty. I guess I was applying to MSN programs because they seem to be less competitive than DNP programs, but since they're in the process of switching over...well, I hope my chances are still just as good.

Anyone else applying?

I'm still waiting for them to update their website about the GEP program. It's almost November and they still haven't posted any info about their planned changes for the program, such as specialties, etc. Not a sign of a very organized program

They sent me a letter and FAQ about the changes via email. It's my understanding that they're only sending them to applicants, though. The letter and FAQ make me think that they definitely have their stuff together, they're just waiting on final approval from the College to make the changes.

The letter I got noted the following for questions on changes:

For additional information or assistance, please contact Michael Spielman, Graduate Admissions Coordinator, at [email protected] or (312) 413-4550.

From this page, I guess this answers my question:

Applications to DNP program will not be reviewed by the Graduate Admissions & Academic Standards Committee until after the February 1st application deadline. Faculty interviews generally take place during the month of March with final decisions being announced in early April.

:(

...and they just extended that deadline. Do you know when they ask applicants back for interviews?
