Job shadow a nurse practitioner?

I am a nursing student in the Dallas Fort Worth Area and am interested in jobshadowing a nurse practitioner. I would like to shadow a female in a private practice, if possible. Does anyone have advice about the best way to go about this? Thank you for your time!

Nurse practitioners with their own private practice (otherwise known as NP business owners) are considerably low in number compared to those who are part of a physician-led private practice, or employed by healthcare institutions.

Being a practice owner carries unique challenges for the NP. Not only do you need to be knowledgeable and competent in clinical matters, you have to be savvy in running a business that would be profitable. That requires knowledge of health codes, insurance reimbursement, scope of practice, and such. That's precisely the reason why few NP's venture into this.

There are a few websites that seem to offer direction to NP's who are interested in owning their practice.
