How realistic are my chances?

Hello everybody, this website has been unbelievably helpful through my years in nursing school and the beginning of my nursing career. I am here yet again to ask for advice.

I would like to know how realistic are my chances to being admitted to CRNA school next year. Here are my specs:

BSN

GPA: 3.95 including organic chemistry I and II

GRE: 1180

Cert: ACLS, PALS (hopefully CCRN by the time the program starts)

Membership: AACN, STT, ANA, FNA

Exp: 1.5 years neuroscience ICU :redbeathe

I think the only crux of the matter () would be my limited time in the ICU, but I'm hoping my experience with neuromuscular blockades and pentobarbital induced comas combined with the exposure to invasive lines and bedside procedures will make me a serious candidate.

What do you guys think? I'm contacting a local anesthesia group next week to start shadowing in the OR.

The best advice I can give is RELAX. If you are qualified, it'll get you an interview. At that point, they're already looking to admit you, so present yourself well and relax.

I was intimidated when I first got in the holding room and saw everyone in their power suits and talking about all of their open heart experience. But then I got to talking about emergent cranies and bone flaps, EEG's and ventrics...and then I realized that I had my own experiences and expertise to bring to the group.

If you're rusty on hemodynamics, then brush up on it. But the director of the program made a big point in stressing that the slate is wiped clean once you start. Regardless if you have 20 years of trauma or 5 years of open heart, everyone is at ground zero in the didactic part. Clinical exp might help you out in clinicals, but honestly if you're an astute learner you should be able to compensate.
