Do you have to take Nursing Research and Theory Classes?

I'm a nuts and bolts person and don't have a lot of patience with nursing theory classes. I hate nursing research, too. I like pharmacology and physiology and classes I feel are useful.

I've been accepted into a NP program but thinking about those baloney classes is getting on my nerves more and more.

How many make-believe classes do you have to take in CRNA school?

It depends on whether or not your CRNA program is in an nursing school or not. There are some excellent programs that are not located in nursing departments. BUT, no matter where you go, plan on taking research and having statistics pre-reqs. Anesthesia is a graduate degree, so you have to be skilled at reading research and applying it to clinical practice.

I luckily got in to a CRNA program through a medical school/allied health program. No more touchy feely nursing classes!!!! :D

You'd be hard pressed to find a person who loves these classes, but if this is one of your major reasons you are thinking CRNA over NP all I can say is......wow.

maybe you should consider being a physician or a PA if all you care about is the science...just a thought
