Hi peeps. A thread for University of Rochester ABPNN/AMPNN applicants for the Fall 2014, September 3 start.

I figured this would be a good time to start a thread: I received a call to schedule an interview today. Quick turnaround! from the March 1 deadline.

Good luck to everybody!

Thanks for starting this thread :) I applied to the ABPNN program as well! So nervous :3 I haven't gotten any calls for an interview yet but hopefully it's just because they haven't received my transcripts/recommendations in the mail yet (though it should be sometime this week!)

agnomie- when is your interview and will it be in person or via phone? congrats on getting to the interview stage, btw :)

black&teal: The interview will be by phone (I live in CA), and it'll be next week on Wednesday. Thanks! Yeah, I've been hanging out here waiting for someone to start the thread.

If you're curious about a timeline, I submitted my app online AND mailed my transcripts/LORs on 2/25. Tracking my transcripts, they arrived on 2/27 and were marked "received" online on 3/2, a Sunday. 7 days a week, those folks.

agnomie- Thanks for the details! I'm also from CA! :0 I submitted my online app on 2/27 and mailed them on 2/25...same time as you, yikes! But I did it by regular mail...now that I think of it, I should have just spent the extra few dollars and gotten tracking for it...hah silly me. Hopefully it didn't get damaged by the weather trekking across the country! Haha. But anyway, good luck on your interview! Hope it goes well. :) From reading older threads, most people said that the interview seemed relatively casual and relaxed!

Hey Guys,

I submitted my application on the 28th of February but I submitted my transcripts and letters of recommendations 2 weeks prior. I received a phone call from the admissions counselor 2 days ago to set up a time to interview. My interview is coming monday over the phone because I live in NYC. I wish you guys the best of luck.

r2ellie: Good luck!

Some tips and bits o' knowledge to add to this:

1) Assume that your interviewer has not read your personal statement, resume, or application. Consider having your PS and resume in front of you during the interview.

2) Your application + interview results will be forwarded to a committee for review, and the latest you'll receive news of acceptance will be in June.

3) If any of the interview questions seems to elicit a vague response by not providing a hypothetical situation, add a little structure to it by adding a real-life example or a hypothetical situation yourself.

agnomie: Thanks for those tips! :) I don't want to overstep and ask too much, but I'm just curious about one thing-- did you feel like it was pretty casual, like how many people were saying in previous cohorts' threads? Or did it feel more like an official/professional interview? I'm pretty nervous for mine but don't want to stress myself out too much trying to prepare for it! :3

Hey guys, I will be graduating from the program in May of this year (2014). If you have any questions feel free to ask. Also, I am looking for a roommate starting in May/June. If any of you are interested, let me know. (huge advantage for yourself! ;)) Thanks!

black&teal: Feel free to ask, but also feel free to PM me if need be.

My interview felt more official and not as casual than had been described by others. Of course, expectations are all different. I prepared a ton but just an ounce of it came into play. But had I not prepared as I did, I would have had a lot of "uhs" and "ums". Plus, thorough preparation gives you confidence.

kenzylynn i would love to talk to you about the program. Via email , FB whatever works for you

Hi everyone! I applied back in january and had my interview on March 3rd. I'm from Long Island NY so admissions chose a phone interview. I also figured with the bad winter we had it would be more convenient. Definitely felt some nerves at first but all in all went pretty decent. Unfortunately the waiting game has begun (as if it wasn't already torturous enough for all of us). Good luck to everyone else with their interviews and hope we get good news sooner than later!

I had my interview the second week of March and I thought it went pretty well. Now it's just the waiting game and we might not hear back until June! I just declined Columbia University's offer to attend their program in hopes that I will get accepted to U of R's program. I'm so nervous to hear a response, but hopefully we'll know sooner than later! For now, keep those heads up!
