To apply or not to apply. That is the question.

So I finished my BSN last year and am looking to apply to a Masters' Program. I have always wanted to be in Labor and Delivery and the goal is to be a Midwife. Now that I am looking at programs, I found a couple that don't really need actual Labor and Delivery experience. I really don't know if I should apply or not.

I have tried to get a job in L&D and part of the problem is that I don't really have actual floor experience per say, I do have a nursing job though. I work for a Bloodless Program, and its pretty much an office job but I do have plenty of patient interaction (check lab values, make sure consents are signed, step in if a doctor wants to give blood to the patient, referrals to doctors that are cooperative with this program, patient education, medication suggestions, etc.) I know getting in will be hard, and the chances are slim I am sure, but one of my bigger concerns is that if I do by some miracle get in will I be ready for all that encompasses being a midwife without having what is considered typical nursing experience.

So to apply or not to apply, that is the question. Thanks for taking the time to read this and to respond. :)
