Summer Entry 2013 Accelerated BSN/MSN Johns Hopkins

Nursing Students Post Graduate

Hi everyone,

How many of you have applied for the 2013 Accelerated BSN/MSN program at JHU SON? I applied early decision and completed my phone interview on the 26th. They said they will start making decisions calls around the December 15th which is a Saturday so I'm sure we won't hear anything until the 17th or later.

Is anyone else as anxious as I am to hear back from them? I even made a vision board on my fridge that reads: I WILL GET ACCEPTED INTO THE JOHNS HOPKINS BSN/MSN PROGRAM STARTING SUMMER 2013. Positive thoughts work, right? :saint:

FYI: I also applied to Columbia, Ohio State, and UCLA.

Hey mcav, I'm a midwifery applicant and haven't heard back yet either...

Phew, I am glad that I am not the only one. I emailed the admissions department to ask if every admitted application received a phone call. They said, "Due to our high applicant volume, phone calls are not guaranteed this year. In the previous years we did call all admitted applicants, but this year not all admitted applicants will get phone calls due to time restraints. Everyone will receive a decision letter via mail." Yikes! There may be a lot more waiting, who knows. Eeek.

Mcav,

Did they say anything about when we'd all be notified by? And I wonder how they are deciding who to call. At this point, I would be very happy with just an email notification!

Btw, did you apply for fall or summer?

Kdiem, I was wondering that too-- why call some people and not others? Perhaps they are calling people who also receive scholarship?

I feel like the way JHUSON has managed this year's decisions is torturous. We are now a week past the decision date we were given, and they've made no formal announcements about extending the decision date-- that information has come through individuals who've posted in this forum. At this point it looks like we are at least a week out from all the decisions being made and announced. Urg.

It would have been nice for them to send out a general email announcing decisions were backed up and that not everyone will be called-- it doesn't seem like it'd be that hard, yet it would save so many of us unnecessary worry and anxiety.

I don't know about you, but I feel like calling or emailing them every day to check in on the status, but I know that wouldn't ultimately be helpful...

I know what you mean, I just want to know.

Here is all that they said when I asked if all of the admissions decisions were made: We began mailing admissions decisions March 1st and we will continue to mail them periodically throughout the month of March.

I applied for summer.

Thank you for the info MCav, but man, is that disappointing!

I am with you, I just want to know.

Just got called this morning at 11:00 am EST. I heard it through voicemail that I'm in! Seems like decisions are slowly leaking out of that office.

Hang in there everyone! You will find out in the near future. Just remember we have been inducing this stress among ourselves by talking on these forums...otherwise we wouldn't even know they were/are calling.

Best of luck! Will see you on orientation/accepted student day.

Hey all! I called this morning to check on decision status. The representative on the phone told me mostly the same things: that they weren't calling everyone this year, and that I could expect to receive my decision via mail by the end of the month. I asked if there was any way to get a more specific date since I have other deadlines coming up this month, and they said no.

Crazily enough, I received a phone call less than an hour later from MB, the admissions officer I had interviewed with, letting me know that I had been accepted! Soooo super happy!!! She said she had just put my envelope in the mail, and that I should receive the mailed letter by Tuesday at the latest.

Looking forward to meeting everyone!

Congratulations Sarahcee!!! Is this your first choice?

Is anyone deciding between penn and Hopkins? Hopkins seems significantly cheaper

And sorry that I never clarified, but I was told that the decisions for Fuld Fellowship were made sometime this past week. Also, if we received the scholarship, we may not know for sure yet if we had received our admission decision over the phone before they made decisions for the scholarship. Does that make sense? I'm having trouble wording this in a non-confusing way, haha. If we haven't heard yet, we could possibly be notified by email, but it will be in our financial aid package for sure, which we will be receiving via snail mail.

meep, I think that the cost is about the same (~100k), but we won't know for sure until we receive financial aid packages. What does yours look like for Penn?

Just tuition at Penn for the bsn portion is 106k vs 68k for Hopkins ... for Penn and even with grants and Perkins loan and scholarship it's still more
