Summer Entry 2012 Accelerated BSN Johns Hopkins

Nursing Students Post Graduate

Published

Okay I have searched far and wide to find a topic relating to this but have only found older ones... I mean come on guys the world isn't really going to end December 2012. :yeah: So here's to the 2012 application cycle!

I have a ton of questions for those who are applying and those who have applied and those who are in the program. Any and all input will be much appreciated. Also just so you know, I will be attending the October 1st open house.

If I were to describe myself, I would say grade-wise I am not the strongest candidate for JHU's nursing program as it is considered top in the nation. HOWEVER I have great experience and recommendations to cancel that out. I am also trying really really hard to make those essays seem great but only 300 words?

So to anyone reading this post, what do you think I can do to make myself a stronger applicant?

Relating to specifically JHU, I have heard a million different things about their program. From "it really sucks and is not worth it" to "best program EVER". JHU is supposed to be a school that is the leader in research and also has a global perspective. Can anyone else tell me what is so special about JHU's nursing program? What is your personal experience with it?

As far as location and campus, I think it doesn't matter as long as the educational program is incredible.

p.s. You are awesome for reading my novel. There have been many a times where I skipped over long posts. :coollook:

They told me the same thing a couple weeks ago lol.

UR - glad to see you liked it and congratulations on the apartment!I was perusing Craigslist last night and found some potentials although it is too early to look for me. It makes me feel better that things are available in my price range. If my husband didn't need a home office and if we didn't have dogs, the search would be easier. JFenton - you could look for a summer sublet. There might be JHU students who 'go home' for the summer and would rent their room. I'm guessing you'd be able to find something.

I'm guessing not getting a rejection letter by now is a good sign?? Either way, I'm incredibly anxious to know. This waiting is so nerve-wracking!

Hi All. I also applied into summery entry accelerated BSN/MSN program in Midwifery and still haven't heard anything.

I got my application in early and they interviewed me really shortly after that 11/15. I did not apply for early decision. Hopefully we will hear something soon :) Best of Luck to everyone.

Specializes in Pediatrics.

I interviewed in mid-December. The way my interviewer made it sound is that I would hear back fairly soon because I interviewed relatively early. I also emailed them today but I didn't recieve a response. Oh well.

I am wondering why they are still accepting applications yet they there is a bunch of us who haven't heard back from them. :-(

how do you know they are still accepting applications ? Im curious as well!

Specializes in Pediatrics.

I emailed them yesterday and they said they hope to notify everyone next week.

They say on their website they are still accepting applications for both summer and fall.

I don't think they necessarily fill all their slots. They aren't a state institution that would try to fill all the slots with the top applicants. I think they are looking for something specific and unfortunately, if you don't have it, they won't extend an invite even if they have an opening.

that makes sense, my friend applied super last minute and got in 2 weeks before the summer classes started.

This is kind of a touchy subject so without going into a lot of detail, are people generally hoping to receive a lot of grant/scholarship support from Hopkins? Or are most people resigned to the fact that they will have to take out a pretty big student loan? I'm just having such a hard time justifying the cost.... :-o

Specializes in Pediatrics.

I'm pretty much resigned to that fact lol. I'm looking into loan repayment options. Grants certainly would be nice though...
