Rn-msn/dnp with other bs degree

Nursing Students Post Graduate

Hey everyone I'm new to this site and I am currently at a cross roads trying to figure out what to next with my career and my education. I originally went to school and obtained a bachelor's in business and communication then I returned to school at an ADN program and I am now an RN. I am thinking I would like to carry on my education but most nurse practitioner programs I look into specifically want a BSN prior to entry. I don't really want to go get another bachelor's degree I would rather spend that time pursuing an advanced practice degree. Does anyone know of programs that will let you enter without a bsn, that may just have an rn with bachelors in another field as an option? Thank you in advance for any thoughts, opinions or suggestions.

Google "RN to MSN programs" and you'll find many programs that may fit your situation.

Many programs require a couple years of RN experience before applying. Perhaps you can jump into a RN-to-BSN program in the meantime in order to open up more possibilities for your NP program. Since you already have a bachelor's degree, you may be able to transfer in a lot of those core classes to the RN-to-BSN program and have less classes to take than you thought.

I have a BS in Biology and did my ADN. I needed a BSN as part of our hosp being a Magnet. I really only had to take nursing courses because of the previous BS. I did it in one calendar year. Now I am in an MSN program. i think many of them want BSN. If you are ever thinking of DNP, you will have to have a BSN. My Bsn cost less than $5K at a state school. It is fairly easy to do while you are trying to find your MSN program
