What are the chances of getting into FNP School w/ a Bachelor's in Allied Health. I am about 20 credits closer to an Allied Health Bachelor degree than I am to a BSN. I want to go to FNP school one I finish the bachelors and wonder if a non-nursing bachelor's will hurt my chances?

Thanks!

It depends on the school. Some programs are designed for people with a bachelor's in another field. You'd have to find one that offers a direct-entry master's program with an FNP degree. Most advanced-practice nursing programs do require a BSN as a prerequisite, however. You may want to look around at available programs before your make your decision.

Barry U, St. Louis U, Rush Chicago, Frontier all accept RN's with a non-nursing Bachelors directly into their MSN programs. Some require an extra course or two, though, so you may want to see if there is one you want to attend and add the extra courses needed as electives to your current degree????
