CHLA RN Residency Program March 2015

Nursing Students Post Graduate

Published

Hi everyone, I just applied to the CHLA RN Residency Program for March 2015 and wanted to start a group to see where everyone is applying from. Anyone complete their packets yet? I'm live in southern California and am planning to apply to NICU as my first choice and PICU as my second choice.

Any updates anyone? This thread seems to be half-dead. lol

I know that a friend of mine heard from CTICU :)

got a call back for the second interview with the PICU and the interview is JUST with staff RN on the unit!! So excited but also majorly intimidating! Good luck to everyone!

Congrats beksRN14 ;-)

I interviewed on the 24th for Hem/Onc/BMT and received an offer for BMT on the 26th. I am so excited and would love to hear from others that will be in the March 2015 cohort.

Wondering if anyone who interviewed with CV Acute has heard anything yet? Or if anyone knows when we should hear?

This thread seems pretty dead haha hopefully people are getting calls!! I'm wondering if there's anyone else who is looking to move out there? I currently live in Mission Viejo but looking to relocate up to Pasadena area, curious if anyone has any suggestions. Merry Christmas everybody!

Hi beksRN14 I got an offer for BMT as well! :) I live in the Pasadena area and the commute is nice. I'm not looking for a roommate since I'm married and have a kiddo but I have a friend in the September Cohort who may be looking for a roommate soon. PM me if you want her info. Merry Christmas to all of you as well! Looking forward to the residency and all that next year has to offer! Happy to have my dream job!

Hey PEDSNURSEPASSION, thanks so much for the info. i PM'ed you :) and CONGRATS!

Hi beksRN14, congrats on your PICU position! I am graduating in May and am looking to apply for the PICU position for September 2015. Do you have any advice to include in my application? For example, what "extras" do you have on your resume that make you stand out next to the other applicants? Did you have your entire final preceptorship at a pediatric hospital? I have PALS, am a SSTI member, volunteer at a children's hospital, would you recommend anything else?

Any information is much appreciated! Thanks and Happy Holidays.

Hey Becka29!!

So sorry for the long delay, it's been crazy holiday season!

I don't know that mine was anything super special but I have worked with kids quite a bit so I put everything kid related, I lived overseases working for an international pediatric philathropy organization and they seemed to really love that since global healthcare is huge for them. I also speak spanish and since their patient population is largely Hispanic. I would suggest taking some spanish so you can at least be conversational! I had my PALS, ACLS and BLS. Also I have my PHN and am certified in the NIHS stroke scale. Lastly, I precepted in their PICU so that definitely helped out! I don't know if any of that is helpful but I hope so! Good luck!!

I know this thread is pretty dead but is anyone going to the New Grad Luncheon Feb. 19th??

beksRN14 I'm going to the luncheon ;-)
