Azusa Pacific University Summer 2014

Nursing Students Post Graduate

Published

Hi! I just turned in my application for the APU ELM summer 2014 cycle. I don't think my stats are very good, so I'm a little worried. I have a 3.2 GPA from UCSD as a human bio major, 3.6 pre-req GPA, EMT for 1 year, and president of a volunteer organization. If anyone has similar stats and got in, it'd make me feel a lot better about my chances =)

Hello!

I applied a little over 2 weeks ago for the summer 2014 san diego location!! I cant wait to hear a response!! lol but I have read of people with lower stats than yours getting in and people with 4.0 GPA and high GPA in pre-reqs getting denied. The school doesn't seem to state what EXACTLY they are looking for. GPA cut off is 2.75 and pre-reqs have to be 3.0. So I think you have a chance! and I have read that the interview is what makes or breaks the decision!! I have lower stats than yours. I joined a CNA training program to get some hands on experience. I have a BS in Biology and I worked in research for almost 4 years. Im really hoping and praying I get in!! please update when you hear something!! ANYTHING!! lol GOod luck!!!

That's comforting to hear! I will definitely let you know if I hear anything. Thank you!

I am just getting ready to turn in my paperwork for summer 2014 as well. Any info I can get about the interview process or anything would be helpful. I have a BS with a 3.72 GPA and 3.0 in prereqs. I am really hoping I have a chance

I just turned in my paperwork yesterday and I spoke with a graduate admissions counselor and she said they should give us a response within 2-3 months for sure.

Hey guys!! So update on my application status!! I had an interview today and it went pretty good I think :/ lol

The assitant director is really nice!! We talked about my prereqs and what others i need such as the research class. We disscused why I think I would be a good nurse and what makes a good nurse! She also explained the program and other things about the school!! She also stated decsions are sent out in September as they close for a few weeks in August.

Good luck to you guys I wish you the best!! :D

@melly6212 how did they contact you to set up the interview and which campus did you apply to? I just send in all of my application material today so hopefully they will be receiving it in the next few days! Good luck to all of you. Please update when you hear anything back! :)

They just contacted me by phone to set up an interview for this upcoming Wednesday! She said the interview will last about an hr

Jaytphan: they contacted me by phone like maybe 2 weeks after I submitted my application! I applied to the san Diego location! ! Best of luck to you let us know about any updates!! :D

Phieud: OMGOODNESS!! that's awesome news!! I hope it goes great!! Don't be nervous either. The assistant director is very nice and makes you feel welcomed!! Yeah its an hour long, the first 25 min you are writing an essay response to a random prompt they give you and the remaining time is spent at the interview!! The assistant director did tell me that in September they send out decisions so its ganna be a loooooongggg wait lol

Good luck!!!! By the way what location did you apply too?

Hi guys,

I also applied to Azusa for summer 2014 at the main location. I sent my application earlier this week. I'm a little bit in a unique case scenario as I completed my BS in psychology abroad, and the pre-requisites in the US. The agency who does foreign transcripts evaluation rated my GPA as barely 3.0 but nonetheless it seems very far from the original grading system. As the education system is very different in my country I feel penalized because of this. I hope they will take in consideration that foreign transcripts do not translate accurately into the american grading system. On the other hand I have a 4.0 GPA in the pre-requisites taken at a US college.

I wish you all get a spot either at Azusa or wherever you apply.

Melly6212: Thank you for the encouragement! =) I'm applying to the main campus, but I did visit the San Diego location for the preview day. Is the writing prompt like the SAT's or is something related to nursing?

Phieud: good luck tomorrow! !!

The question I got was if I could chose two people (alive, dead, fictional) who would they be. Its very simple they just want to make sure you are able to write properly lol. A man, I assume works there told me they require it now because they want to make sure its you who wrote your essay because they caught a student who submitted an essay they did not write. But don't sweat it its very simple!!! Good luck!!!
