Interesting question about the HESI!

I don't know the answer but the following may help.

In the nursing handbook (cited at bottom of website page)

on page 24 of the handbook there is reference to taking an exam prior to the boards, but the name of the exam is not mentioned. I'll bet if you contacted the nursing dept at the school, they will answer your question.

New to the board...second degree student looking into programs. How competitive is this program and what was your experience with interview process? I have been reading about the HESI test that is a requirement for the Drexel ACE program. Do you know if Nova has this requirement?

I just got exepted into Nova Express BSN program of May 2010 and I didn't have to take any test!! The interview process was pretty easy, and not formal at all. They just wana get to know you. It's a competitive program, but if you have a good GPA and do good in your interview, you should be okay! Make sure to sent your application early :)

loveshoes is referring to Drexel's accelerated program called ACE. Drexel has a requirement of an EXIT test before a student can graduate.That is, students at the end of the educational part of the program, have to pass the HESI exam with a fairly high score before they are allowed to graduate and take the nursing boards. Congrats and good luck to all! My father is a Drexel alum and would like to see me apply to the ACE program but I spoke to a colleague's wife who finished the program in 11 months and but did not pass the exit test after two attempts. She actually had to put her degree on hold and work to pay the additional $2500 for remediation. She

only missed the mark by 1 point. She felt 100% ready to sit for her boards, but Drexel would not budge. So, after speaking with her, I crossed that program off my list! It seems everyone on this board who is attending the program or is a graduate is very defensive. I called the Nova office several months and I got a good feeling. I will call again tomorrow and check on the exit test policy and will post.

Woohoo!! Called Nova today and found out they do not have a HESI progression policy! Their graduation is based on completing all courses and exams throughout the program. They administer nclex-style tests throughout the program which fully prepares you to take the NCLEX. I checked out their pass rates and, they too, have a wonderful pass rate. This seems like the program for me. Wish me luck...(of course I

will also have a Plan B!)

Yea, I knew that. They don't require HESI test which is great. Can't wait to start the program in May :).

Hello, I'm Mona. I'll move to PA from Kanasa in May because I'm taking some classes here in Spring semester. I havn't found any place to live yet, but I was hoping I can find someone in the same program to live with close to Nova!! I heard the housing are pretty expensive down there, but I havn't found anything that I like yet. I'm glad to see someone else that will be in my class as well. I'm so excited about this program, can't wait. Hey by the way I'm in facebook, you can add me if you like. I don't know anyway at Nova so it would be nice to know some faces before I get there. Mona (and others), how has the housing search been going? I would also be happy to consider sharing housing with another student in the program...

Hi Susan, I havn't had any luck yet. I don't even know where to start, but I don't mind sharing housing with another student in the program :). I'm moving to PA in May so I have some time to do some serious searching!

Good luck getting an answer to your question. I've posed the question of how many students get accepted into the BSN Express program awhile back, and my reaction is that it must just be Mona and Jackie. Seems like this post has been taken over by accepted students of the 2010 BSN Express program. :yeah:

Mona and Jackie, try to look at housing farther away from VU on the Main Line. Villanova is essentially single family, upper class homes and the farther away from VU you look will likely yield more affordable housing results. I know some people that lived in Bryn Mawr, but my feeling is that this area is very expensive. I'd even live in West Chester if it's cheaper. There has to be cheaper housing there because of West Chester University. I mean with tuition being $35k alone, finding rent $100-200 cheaper/month will add up! :uhoh3:

For those who have already been accepted into the BSN Express/ Alt. sequence program, are the grades in your prerequisite science classes very important factors to your admission? I'm just wondering whether I should break my butt to get as close to a 4.0 as I can, or can throttle back a bit and shoot for a 3.5.:)
