UPMC Mercy School of Nursing -Class of '15

U.S.A. Pennsylvania

Published

Hi AllNurses community! I have been searching for a thread for the UPMC Mercy Hospital Class of 2015, but alas; no such luck. Therefore, I created one!

I was accepted to start in August 2013 and was looking for others who were, or are looking to be accepted. I know it's early still, but I am ready to start school and secure a study group.

Now to my question: I know Mercy has a tuition contract. Does anyone know anything about it? Is it a good deal? I know they are sending information about it, but I am interested in hearing opinions.

Thanks!

Thanks navydude!! I'm so releived.. Lindsey you won't graduate earlier but you'll probably get a day off during the week. All your credits should transfer.

Specializes in transplant/case management.

You won't graduate earlier but your schedule will be freed up which is a blessing.

Can't wait to sit down and talk about what credits will transfer. Has anyone done so already? I have taken a&p 1 and 2, micro, human growth and development, etc. I'm hoping all my credits will transfer and all I'll have left to take are the nursing courses. Does anyone know if you can graduate earlier than 21 months?

Hey Lindsey. Oberley - I hope all your credits transfer. You are lucky to have already knocked out some courses. I have to CLEP a few of mine because I graduated with a Bachelor's in Education in '09. Apparently any classes taken 5 or more years ago; you have to CLEP. Also, I don't think you can graduate earlier. You will just have a lighter load each semester. Which is just as good in my opinion. :)

Thanks! Is anyone going to the open house on Saturday at Mercy?

I have another question. I am transferring in 8 courses. Of those courses 2 of them I have to CLEP. How do I go about doing that? Is it a test I have to take? It is for Psy 1 and English comp 1.

CLEP is a test that you take and if your score is high enough, you'll receive credit for that course; so you will CLEP out of the course. Go to http://clep.collegeboard.org/exam for info on the test, study guides, and how to register. Good luck!

Oh great...I just love when this website makes me resend my reply, only to post BOTH of them lol.

Natural girl do you know if I will have to do this for shadyside? I have everything but the sciences done.

I think I just figured it out Nevermind lol

Vebb, Shadyside is usually more lenient with their time requirements...especially since u don't have the sciences done yet. I think the sciences have to be done within 5 or 7 years.

I sure hope so bc I'm going to have a cow if I have to take anything again my nutrition is right at 5 years this fall.. not only take it again but pay for it.. again! No thanks! Grrr we'll see..
