Philadelphia New Grad Salaries

U.S.A. Pennsylvania

I will be graduating this spring and am wondering which Philadelphia hospitals are paying the highest salaries. Also any info on where is easier/harder to get hired would be helpful. I'd like to get a job as an extern somewhere now so that I can prepare for a job next year. I am looking at Temple, Einstein, Mercy, Jefferson, HUP, Cooper... I'm open to anywhere in the area!

Specializes in HH, Peds, Rehab, Clinical.

I don't know the job market in the Phillie area specifically, but if it's trending like most of the rest of the nation, be thankful for being able to land a nursing job at ANY hospital, not just the ones you have on your favorites list!! It's great to have goals though =)

Most of the graduates of my program have been able to get a job within the first 6 months, especially if they have already been externing. I am currently an extern at a Philadelphia hospital, but am not very happy there and would like to work elsewhere. My hospital's starting wage is $27/hour and it doesn't go up much after the first year.

Specializes in Surgical/Stepdown, Home Care.

Cooper's pay rates for nurses are public record thanks to the union. New grad nurses start out at around $31/hr.
