Specializes in Open Heart.

I just found out I have a job at Lehigh Valley Hospital when I am finished school. I was wondering if anyone here works there and has any idea how much I can expect to make. It's not a big deal, but I am obviously curious. I am going to have a BSN and I'll be working in the ICU.

Specializes in ED.

I've never worked there but I was raised near there, and I know it has a huge complex and will have a great diversity of jobs available to you. And from the last I heard they were working on job satisfaction for their nursing staff as well, so this might be a good time for you to enter Lehigh Valley.

I was there for an interview last week and I was impressed with the facility.

Specializes in Emergency Nursing!!.

I just graduated in August and began working there as a GN on September 12. I am in the Critical Care internship for the ER. you start out making about $22/hr and after you pass boards you get another $1 on top of it so you will make about $23/hr. They also offer a shift diff of $0.75/hr from 7p-7a. I could make about $1 more elsewhere, but they also offer free benefits to employees and family along with many extra benefits as well, to many to list in here. The experience I am recieving and knowledge alone is well worth the $1 less/hr. I know there are some nurses working else where for 2 yrs making just over $24 at a smaller, non-trauma facility, but like I said, the knowledge and experience you will get is far greater to me than the $$. I love LVH and once I had my initial interview, I knew that is where I wanted to work, no question about it! I am truely glad I made the switch to LVH. It is truely top notch facility and they are the best at what they do. Hope ot see you there sometime! any other question please let me know!

Specializes in Cardiology.

I can't speak for the current pay scale, but I grew up in that area. Some of my HS classmates and relatives worked there and loved it. Most of my immediate family has been cared for there, and it is still their first choice if they need inpatient care. Sadly, two of my close family members passed away there (in ICU). They received outstanding care, and my grandma's passing actually was a huge influence on my going into the cardiac field.

It has grown by leaps and bounds since I lived there, but I still hear that it is a great place to work. Congratulations and best wishes as you start your new job!

Call your nurse recruiter and find out exactly what your starting salary will be. It is a big deal because you need to know what you are worth in the job market. You should also know what your increase will be when you get your R.N. I am thinking you will be starting as a graduate nurse. This hospital has an excellent reputation so it is a great first job. You should also know exactly what your benefits are because they are worth money as well. I believe you have fully paid health care benefits while other hospitals are expecting the employee to share the cost. Good Luck!
