HUP's Nurse Residency program?

U.S.A. Pennsylvania

Hello everyone!

I've heard about nurse residency programs, and I know that HUP has one, but I can't find much information about applying for it on their website. It has the criteria to apply, but no application, phone number, or email to contact for more information. I'm graduating in December and will be moving to the Philly area, so I'm just looking for some information for now. If anyone knows how the residency program works or how to get more information about it, I'd be happy to hear anything you have to say. Thanks!

Susan

Once you are hired as a new grad @ HUP you are automatically placed in the residency program. The program is essentially once a week meetings for the first couple months that help you get acclamated to HUP (payroll, clinical ladder, transfers, ect), review of nursing skills (using IV pumps, IV insertions), classes (telemetry, codes/rapid response) ect. Then you have 2 more follow up meetings (a 6 mth and 1 year). The point of the program is just to help ease you into the role of a HUP RN. And like i said your automatically in the program once you are hired as a new grad. To look for a job simply go to HUPs website, for more info just contact nurse recruitment, if you can't find the number call the main operator and they'll give it to you. I work at HUP and it has a been a great learning experience, HOWEVER you just have to hound HR to get a job because they are not the greatest about getting back to you....
