  1. HUP is opening up new units so well worth a try to see if you can get in....
  2. Once you are hired as a new grad @ HUP you are automatically placed in the residency program. The program is essentially once a week meetings for the first couple months that help you get acclamated to HUP (payroll, clinical ladder, transfers, ect), review of nursing skills (using IV pumps, IV insertions), classes (telemetry, codes/rapid response) ect. Then you have 2 more follow up meetings (a 6 mth and 1 year). The point of the program is just to help ease you into the role of a HUP RN. And like i said your automatically in the program once you are hired as a new grad. To look for a job simply go to HUPs website, for more info just contact nurse recruitment, if you can't find the number call the main operator and they'll give it to you. I work at HUP and it has a been a great learning experience, HOWEVER you just have to hound HR to get a job because they are not the greatest about getting back to you....
  3. I am moving to alexandria, what apartment buildings did you look @?
  4. ....sooooo is there anyone actually WORKING in NOVA?!!
  5. I'm actually from South Jersey, presently living in Philly for the past year and will be moving to Northern VA (in the DC metro area). After much looking around I will not be making NEAR what I'm making in PHilly right now and worse, the cost of living is MORE expensive in N. VA than Philly/S. Jersey. Unfortunate. I can't talk about the rest of VA (the "country") but N. VA in the D.C. Metro area is def. expensive and the RN salary not so great.
  6. I'll be there soon! Got a job in L&D @ INOVA Fairfax. If any one has any recommendations on where to live I'd appreciate it!
