Harcum Evening Nursing Program 2012

U.S.A. Pennsylvania

Published

Hello all I'm new to the forum but I but wanted to know if anyone is attending Harcum's evening program in May, I recently got accepted and wanted to know what to expect with classes n clinicals. Its been a long road for me so I am proud that I'm finally going to nursing school.Anyone have any info or stories to share, thank you in advance!

I have my interview coming up what was it like? Ill ask when they send there acceptance letters out and let you know.

It was great just ask why you want to be a nurse and why did you choose harcum. And write a essay on a topic given. I will be traveling from NJ it took me 33 mins. I want to find an alternate route I took exit 338. Ok let me know

Honestly speaking, I would not invest your time and energy going to Harcum ' Nursing program. They are completely disorganized and they have the lowest pass rate in the entire state of PA. What they probably didn't tell you that they were on provisional warning because of the low pass rate and they are at risk of being shut down come the fall. I am a nursing student there now...can't wait to run far away. Please reconsider.

Hello

They told me that at the interview

Oh wow I also looked at gwynedd mercy weekend nursing program because at this point I'm getting overwhelmed. Its really no evening programs in Jersey. Lasalle I realky don't wsnt to take that hard NLN test again in July but if worse case I would have too.

They said they will send the acceptance letters by March at the latest. Have you heard anything?

As an experienced nurse familiar with several nursing programs, I can unequivocally say that Harcum's nursing program is the worst there is. Not only are they on probation (again) with the state board of nurse examiners, the accrediting body for nursing programs (ACEN) has them on warning status. Not to mention the numerous lawsuits from students. Please do not waste your precious time and money at this institution.

Speschalk - would you say that the school isn't selecting students who are likely to succeed? Or would you say that the program itself is not preparing students properly?

As a recent grad, I would absolutely say that they are completely disorganized, they change things so frequently its not fair to the students. They do not prepare you enough to successfully pass your state boards. Some of the expectations they have from you are unrealistic. I could not wait...WE could not wait to leave them because they say one thing and NCLEX says another. Nursing school is supposed to be hard, but not horrible!
