HACC Transfer Student needs Help with Points question

U.S.A. Pennsylvania

I am seeking reassurance; HACC accepted 24 of the credits I earned at another college.

According to the HACC points system information sheet:

"...a minimum transfer GPA of 2.5 (from all schools ) will be required if the student has transferred 23 or more of the required general education credits of the Associate Degree Nursing Program. (Note: Removal of transfer credits may effect financial aid).

For any transfer student, as defined above, a 2.5 GPA will be assigned in the calculation of this admission criterion."

Although HACC accepted 24 of my transfer credits only 21 apply to my general education classes (they accepted an additional class which does not fit into any of the required general education coursework criterion). Does this mean I will not have a GPA of 2.5 assigned to me - since it is less than 23 credits?

The total general education requirement adds to 24 credits, so I believe the 2.5 rule applies to students who are transferring to HACC but have already completed all the general education coursework and want to apply to the Nursing program?

Sorry for asking this question, I feel as though I am correct, but I need reassurance.

Thank you! (If anything I wrote is unclear, please do not hesitate to ask for clarification).

You really should talk with an advisor. Even if your GPA is calculated at 2.5, I'm not sure that is high enough to get you accepted. Your transfer sciences won't be worth much. HACC has a funny way of "protecting" their own......meaning those who did pre-req's thru them. You can always take some of the pre-req's at HACC to boost your points. I heard the lowest point total accepted for the incoming class was 93.

Thank you for replying! I have since found out that the 2.5 rule won't apply (thank heaven). I picked up on the "protecting their own" vibe...I debated going to another school, but wow...nothing beats the education HACC RN students receive!

I have all my sciences yet to take - they will all be HACC classes, as well as, two additional pre-reqs.

Thank you so kindly!
