I currently hold a 3.8 GPA and I have Micro completed (got a B that ruined my 4.0). I'm currently in AP1. I am also a part of Allegheny campus's RN Achievement Program (which has guaranteed spots, but not all students in the program get in). After this semester, I have AP2, PSY 108 & a humanities class left, which I plan to take over the summer in '13.

I wish you guys luck next time around or at a different school

Can you appeal there decision? Also do they have some sort of waitlist?
    Thats a good question...

Not to sound bitter but I really don't think it's fair that students who do not have the pre-reqs get in. When their are candidates who have everything complete. I am fairly new to PA. I have over 100 credits completed from other Uni's and am well qualified. I want them to bring back the entrance exam.
Anyone know what other schools have classes/clinical's offered in evenings?

Also, to get into CCAC, you really need a high GPA. Because they give extra point to those of us who have any sciences completed, the starting GPA is a 6.25, provided you have a 4.0 with all sciences completed. Someone (like myself) could have a higher GPA without all sciences compared to someone else with all sciences done but with a low GPA. You can calculate your nursing application GPA by adding .75 for an A, .50 for a B and/or .25 for a C for each science on top of your current GPA.

I understand your bitterness, but I do have all my pre-reqs done. It's the co-reqs I'm working on. How would it be fair that I busted my butt getting all A's to get turned down because a C student completed all the co-reqs. That's why they do give bonus points to your GPA to help you get into the program for taking classes you did t have to yet. Unfortunately, someone who didn't compete all co-reqs still had a higher GPA than you with your bonus points. It happens. I'm sorry you didn't get in, but it's over 700 applicants fighting for less than 300 seats.

    How do you appeal?

You can't appeal. The seats are already filled. They're not going to send a accepted student a letter that says "sorry we revoked your seat because another student filed an appeal." And they're not going to add seats because then everyone who qualifies would appeal.

Sorry yinz didn't get in this time. Maybe next time. Good luck!

You can appeal because I know people who did. People drop out before the program even starts and seats are opened up. I can almost promise that. I just don't know how

I think they have a waitlist for that reason. The next qualified applicant would get the seat, not someone who complained.

No, the person who lets them know they care will get in

I have a friend who emailed amy to see what happens to the seats that people are unable to accept, her response said that they should let her know immediately since there are other applicants who could take the seats, which would lead me to believe there is some type of waiting list but it's ccac so who knows.. As far as appealing the decision, I had to do that back in spring 2010 bc they denied bc my pax scores were not high enough but I had wanted to apply using my net scores which were still good at that time, I emailed the dean of nursing and the seceratary which I don't think was amy at that time. A couple days later I received a call saying I got in but this was there error in counting the wrong score. So I don't think appealing bc you have everything done will work but it's worth a try! This semester I got into ccac allegheny night with a 3.1 gpa, a b in ap1 and a's in ap2 and micro.

I haven't actually got a denial letter yet. She just told me via email I didn't get into the Cal program. So I emailed her again asking about the other CCAC campus's.
