Hi all, I'm new to this site (just joined today). But I've been lurking for a few weeks. I'm applying for the Aria Health SON and would love to meet others who are applying for the September 2012 academic year.
Hey guys, congrats on getting in! :)
I am about to start 310. It goes by so fast :)
@heather and everyone
I took nursing research last semester and my teacher was the coordinator of the penn state RN to BSN program. She happily informed us that they are now starting a bachelor semester at Aria (thats what i call it). Basically if you can get all the classes Aria now offers out of the way before you graduate then after you graduate and get your RN.... You come back to Aria for one more semester, take the 4 classes you would have left and graduate w/ your BSN from Penn State at a discounted aria-students-only rate. This is different from the originial plan, which was to finish up the bachelor classes w/ penn state online. So this is great news for us. The first semester for this should start in the fall.
You guys got a financial aid letter? I wonder why I didn't get one yet. I know Julie said the packets should be out before the end of April. I'm glad I completed everything for January admission, so I just have to complete the hep b series, get physical and dental exam. My only advice is do the child abuse clearance ASAP bc it takes the longest out the checks. I think mine came back like two days before the deadline.
Definately enjoying the break. School is tough!! Yeah I understand youre bummed but atleast you wont know the difference! I have a feeling I wont like the new school at all. Oh well it is what it is. I skimmed what you guys were writing and someone said something about buying an IPAD?? Pleeeease. Dont waste your money, I have a medical dictionary from when I took medical terminology years ago. It is still on my book shelf collecting dust, I havent pulled it out once. If you need to look up a word, google it man:jester:
Oh wow, this is all so exciting! Thanks for all the info BumbleBee! It's so wonderful to hear about the new BSN structure and it just completely cemented the fact that we all picked a remarkable school! I do have a question for you regarding clinicals. A good friend of mine is an ICU nurse (for over 10 years) on the west coast warned me about the "nurses eating their young" etc as it happen to her. Have you enjoyed your clinical experiences and gotten along well with your preceptors? Do you have any tips advice for clinicals based on your experience?
Thanks and sorry for the bombardment of questions, it's just that September seems soooo far off and I'd like to know as much as possible before then!:)

No I haven't got a packet yet either. I want to set up appointments and my CPR certification class. I would do that now, but older posts mention that Aria has offered a CPR class at the school for $50 for new students. Does anyone know anything about that? That is cheaper than any other places I've found.
