What cert were they talking about?

So, I'm *trying* to break into peds after a year in the ER, so bear with me because this may be a seriously stupid question.

I had an interview on Monday with a peds unit, and they were looking over my certifications. I have BCLS, ACLS, and TNCC, and I made the comment about needing to get PALS but my ER doesn't require it (the peds cases go to our sister hospital... we typically dont see much peds and our charge nurses are PALS cert).

They said,"Actually, our floor nurses aren't required to have PALS, they are required to have ______ "

I didn't catch what they said, but I can't figure out what they were talking about!!

Peds nurses... help me out? It's kind of driving me crazy!

BTW - I should've said this is for a floor nurse position in a large pediatric hospital, not just a unit in a regular hospital. Not terribly sure if that means anything! :)

They probably meant PEARS. I had never heard of it until a coworker told me about it. At my hospital NICU nurses are required to have NRP/STABLE, ICU nurses are required PALS and the floor nurses typically have PEARS. Stands for Pediatric Emergency Assessment, Recognition and Stabilization
