What are some day to day diagnosis that you have to deal with? and how do you solve them? and i will just see how it relates.

I don't solve medical diagnosis. Medical diagnoses vary from cerebral palsy, epilepsy, traumatic brain injury, acute & chronic respiratory failure, asthma, IDDM, asthma, bronchpulmonary dysplasia, retinopathy of prematurity, gastroesophogeal reflux, hydrocephalus, LGS, renal calculus, autonomic dysreflexia, chromosomal abnormalities, trisomy 21, trisomy 18, complete C2/C3 spinal cord transection and resultant quadriplegia and trach/vent dependent, allergies, hiatal hernia, eosinophilic gastritis, autism, intestinal pseudo obstruction, dumping syndrome, hypotonic bladder, scoliosis, hypotonic & hypertonic muscle tone, spastic quadriplegic and diplegic cerebral palsy, PVL, ICH, gastroparesis,

So what are some of the things that you do on a daily basis as a pediatric nurse when working with patients?

Full body system Assessment

Vital signs

Tracheostomy care

Ventilator management

Gastronomy care

Constant monitoring

Enteral feeds via GT or NGT or JT..

Vital signs-temp, heart rate, respiratory rate, pulse oximetry, capnography, blood pressure

Range of motion

Reposition

Skin care

Wound care

Gait training

Use adaptive equipment

Therapeutic exercises and interventions (splints, equipment)

Medication assessment, calculation and assessment

Bladder catheterization

Specimen collection

Respiratory assessment & care (inhaled drugs via MDI or neb, suction of excess secretions--oral, nasal, nasopharyngeal, endotrachial, trach care, tracheostomy tube changes)

PO feeds and/or feeding therapy as directed by the speech-language pathologist

OT & PT splinting & exercises as directed by therapist
