Interview Coming Up Need Help!

So let me start from the beginning.

I was supposed to start my CNA training

today with a LTC facility and was going

to sign a contract to work for them a year

however they decided to have the community college

come in and teach the class so a few

of us that were accepted couldnt proceed

due to we owe the college a balance.

I have pre arranged to pay the college and

will have them paid before school starts

in January.

I then thought to just apply to the

major hospital for the PCA positions as they

have many on different units. I applied

2 days ago and recieved a call today for an interview.

I didnt expect to get a call that soon.

Also its for a unit I am highly interested

in its for Medical/Surgical ICU.

Yes I couldnt believe it so I am asking for so help.

I want to go in very professional with questions

relevant to the position.

I can research the hospital and talk about

what I know in regards to providing

patient care and mention about what I know

about the unit I will be working on.

I need pointers for a good interview

also since I have never worked in healthcare

how should I go about critiquing my resume

to make it stand out. Any help is appreciated.

Since you already have an interview your resume doesn't really matter at this point. Make sure you're early to your interview, look and smell decent, and emit enthusiasm.

My backround: I have worked as a PCT for 8 years now. I recently sat on an interview panel for potential new hires.

The main thing my team and I looked for was confidence and a willingness to be trained. Being coachable is super important and so is having confidence. Nurses can abuse their techs and we needed to make sure we hired individuals that were tough but still caring and empathetic. Be confident in your answers and don't let then smell any fear. Nursing support is a great and important adventure. Nothing to be scared of ! Good Luck!
