CNA training/employment in Nassau/Suffolk County, NY?

I'm currently an undergraduate student who has been pursuing summer jobs in the health related field. I've looked at many fields which include, but are not limited to, Phlebotomy, EMT, and medical scribing. However, jobs like the aforementioned require training that take much of the entire summer to complete. And it's also hard to get true medicinal work experience in the field if you are just planning to do summers.

I've asked around and most people have recommended becoming a CNA. However, I'm slightly confused as to how one goes about becoming one. From what I've gathered, you can either train to be a CNA in four weeks time (or five, idk) and become licensed OR you can just apply to a hospital and learn on the job.

Which would be the preferred route for one looking to be a CNA during summers only? I say summers only because I go to school out of state. Anyway, again which would be the preferred route? Training, or take my chances and apply to hospitals right away?

-If training is the preferred route, are there hospitals and/or community colleges in the Nassau/Suffolk County areas that offer such training (preferably Nassau)?

-If it is a better idea to just apply to hospitals, where should I start?

I am in Suffolk and I also had trouble finding a CNA course on Long Island. I went to the Manhattan Institute on 5th Ave in NYC.If you take a CNA course, you get the certificate. Then, you take a NY State exam and get your "license." Anyone can get the certificate, but not everyone is licensed. This exam is 70 written questions and a separate Skills test. The skills is the harder part because you have to get all 5 skills correct. Google "CNA Clinical Skills Test" to get more information on this. The NY license is crucial on Long Island. You MUST have this to work in LTC/Nursing homes and most hospitals. Hope this clarifies things for you :)

Hi Guys I am still looking for can classes in Nassau county I found few but they are so expensive Any idea ?
